Clubs, groups and organizations to play an important part of the life of the population in General outside of work and family. A survey recently to get a better understanding of the clubs and organizations trying to get online. The survey was conducted in the last 2 months and targeted random people who at least had the email addresses. Given that this is somehow a public response this self-selecting, results should not be considered as indicating the sense of the General population, note however that the 2007 statistics show that more than 70% of the United States are Internet users according to Nielsen/Netratings.
The results are the following:
Participation of the group - we are active
When asked what type of groups or clubs of individuals has been a party, the most common responses were in "hobby or special interest group", "charitable organizations / volunteering and civic", "sports teams" and a "linked" to school club (either as a child or a parent). Each of these four areas had 52 to 55% of the responses. The next level of groups has been "social networks online only" and "association of professional development" around 43%.
Surprisingly, religious and spiritual were low at 22%, which contradicts some research groups General where to the United States, religious groups are the most common clubs or groups/organizations in the real world.
Persons who responded, 51% are either serve or have served as an organizer, leader, leader or Manager of a club. People generally assume roles of leadership in groups and it seems unlikely that a small group of people is only starting and groups. A significant percentage of people take or who have taken a leadership role.
When clubs asked how much they are currently part of, the largest response was "two", with 23%. The graph of tracking a bit of a curve Bell with "one" and "three" as the next higher. 25% of respondents were currently part of the five clubs or more.
Use of technology in groups - it is high
Unsurprisingly, the majority of the respondents is by electronic mail for the communication of Group (84%). Interpolation from data, 70% of them use a group such as Yahoogroups email list to communicate.
52% of the groups use tools of personal productivity such as Microsoft Word and Excel for the planning, documentation, etc. And 30% of respondents have a private members only Web site.
Only 6% of respondents do not all technology use at all.
Level of satisfaction - moderately satisfied
When asked that their level of satisfaction with the signing of technology they use, the majority of respondents (51%) said that the technology was sufficient but with it could be 29% of more said that technology was sufficient without the desired future need and 15% were very satisfied with the technology and that it allowed them to be very productive. Only 5% were dissatisfied or very dissatisfied.
When asked what they wanted technology solutions could do better at 45% responded that they want solutions would not cost money and 38% said that they wished that it requires technical resources to implement or manage. Only 21% wanted more features. 38% wanted their technology group to be easier to use.
When asked what they want the technology could be used to help, great answer (32%) was to communicate better. To better communicate meant a variety of things, as keep everyone informed and updated and keep everyone on the page "same". Ease of use and planning (19% each) was the following, with the most common concern commonly that some members of the club were not computer.
No surprise when he asked that their three most pressing concerns was the need for the members of the club better connected to 48%. A close second, was to increase the participation of 45%. Retainer for third place was the need for planning events and activities better as well as the need to better share information so that members know what was going on.
In summary:
At least one Internet user population, the use of technology to help groups is high. There is a wide range of point solutions that help the groups to be more productive and organized. Technology is primarily a sufficient work, but more than half do not feel it's to meet their needs and desire, that she could do more. The most common ways to improve were to offer a lower cost (or free) solution that was easier to use. Improvement of communication and the best organization were most often cited desires for technology to help with. They hope that this helps to their most pressing concerns of connectivity increased within the Group and improved information and planning groups.
